It is with enthusiasm that we supported the emblematic Montreal Public Markets in their website redesign.
For several years, their Wordpress CMS was aging, less and less secure and using the content manager was becoming difficult, which pushed them towards a complete redefinition of their digital tool. Although the clients wanted to continue working with Wordpress, we suggested a redesign built on Drupal. The CMS that we proposed was going to be based on a block model, inspired by builders but simple and intuitive to use and without long-term updating problems. The Montreal public markets have embarked on the adventure and we can guarantee that they do not regret their choice.
First, we slightly modified their brand guide to ensure better readability of the logos on the web. We then collaborated on the development of the site tree. The main challenge was to find an interesting way to talk to their B2C and B2B customers without making the site navigation complicated. Once this step was finalized, we then developed tailor-made web models / user interfaces according to the content and their needs. The Drupal CMS was finally developed according to the types of content and we developed a total of 21 tailor-made blocks. The arrangement between each of them has been tested and this allows them to create pages easily and with absolute autonomy.
In addition to a CMS designed to meet their needs, we have also respected the WCAG A standard in terms of web accessibility. The site is therefore easily navigable for people with vision problems, deafness or other disabilities. We have also developed interactive maps for the main markets: Jean-Talon, Atwater and Maisonneuve. Each kiosk has an assigned merchant and the interactive map makes it easy to locate merchants using a search engine. If you do not know the name of the merchants you are looking for, it is also possible to find him using a list where they are grouped by categories: butchers, bakeries, market gardeners, etc.
We are proud to have supported them from the creation of the models to the delivery of their new digital tool.
