We developed three installations for Float4 at the new Statue of Liberty Museum, on Ellis Island in New York. It is a massive project on an international scale and it is estimated that the exhibition could attract more than 4.3 million visitors each year.

The first interactive is a tactile screen integrated to the furniture and turned into a digital book about Auguste Bartholdi, creator of the Statue of Liberty. The app success rests on graphic details and flowing animations, rigorously integrated by our team.

The second screen (3 feet x 5 feet) is an archive photos mosaic representing the Statue of Liberty in the collective imagery. It is made of movie and series posters, publicities, book and magazine covers from all eras. The biggest challenge was to create an infinite loop of images while maintaining a perfect experience during transitions.

The third interactive is surely the most impressive one: an installation of about ten screens measuring 10 feet high. The furniture integrated three cameras, placed at different heights. Visitors are asked to answer a few questions about what liberty means to them. Once done, a picture is taken, sent to Google API to validate that the content is appropriate, the picture is then going at the top of the screen before being displayed on a giant screen in real time. The visitor’s photo is now part of a whole.

Interesting fact: the whole exhibition is in compliance with the Americans with disabilities Act, in order to provide a truly inclusive experience. We had to develop the project with that in mind and make sure any visitor would be able to access all the content.
